Holistic care for every stage of motherhood
HAALU — Divine Love for Mother & Baby
A nurturing space where pregnancy, motherhood and baby bonding are cared for with knowledge, compassion and timeless wisdom.

Why I Founded HAALU
“HAALU was born from my own breastfeeding journey — a journey that began with uncertainty, loneliness and tears, but ultimately gave me my purpose.”
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I welcomed my son, Master Krisshiv, into the world.
Throughout my pregnancy, I had prepared myself with love and intention. I regularly practised yoga, breathing exercises, womb bonding and other pregnancy-related activities. I had read, learned and mentally prepared myself for motherhood. One thing I was absolutely certain about was that I wanted to breastfeed my baby — and I especially wanted to experience the beautiful golden hour, when a mother and baby are encouraged to begin breastfeeding soon after birth.
But motherhood does not always unfold the way we imagine.
I underwent a C-section. Because of the COVID restrictions, my husband was not allowed to be with me. And the person I wished I could have had beside me most — my loving mother — had already left us a few years earlier.
In those first precious moments, I felt incredibly alone.
I was happy that my baby was born healthy, but at the same time, I felt scared, vulnerable and emotional. I reminded myself to stay positive. I used affirmations and consciously tried to keep my stress under control because I knew how important a peaceful mind could be for my breastfeeding journey.
Then came a moment I will never forget.
The nurses came to help me breastfeed. They looked at my breast and told me that I had a flat nipple and that I might not be able to feed my baby.
I simply asked them, “Please try. Let us see.”
But instead, my healthy newborn baby was taken away to another room.
I was happy because my baby was safe and healthy, but my heart was heavy with questions.
Later, when I was shifted to my room, my first thought was to feed my baby. I was told that my baby had already been given formula.
I cried. Not because formula itself was something to fear, but because I had wanted to breastfeed my baby, and I felt that a decision about my baby's feeding had been made without giving me the opportunity to try and without discussing it with me or my husband.
My baby was healthy. I believed I deserved the opportunity, support and guidance to try breastfeeding first.
When my gynaecologist visited me, I shared everything with her. I told her how upset and guilty I felt. She listened. She supported me. And with that support, I began breastfeeding my son.
From that moment, I became determined to make my breastfeeding journey work. With the right support, I was able to breastfeed my son with breastmilk.
But something else was happening around me.
From my room, I could hear babies crying in the neighbouring rooms. I could hear mothers trying to feed their babies. I could hear caregivers discussing breastmilk supply, babies crying, holding babies and whether formula should be given.
Some mothers were struggling. Some were confused. Some simply needed someone to guide them and reassure them.
And I realised something deeply important: I was not the only mother who needed support.
There were so many mothers like me — mothers who genuinely wanted to breastfeed, but who needed someone to patiently guide them, encourage them and stand beside them when they felt unsure.
I thought about the experience I had just gone through:
• What if every mother had someone who could say, “You can try. Let's see what works for you and your baby.”
• What if families understood how important their support could be?
• What if mothers were given the confidence, knowledge and practical guidance they needed instead of being left to navigate those difficult first days alone?
That thought stayed with me. It became a purpose.
I decided that I wanted to help mothers and families experience breastfeeding with confidence, compassion, correct information and the right support.
I pursued the necessary training, earned my certification and began my professional journey of supporting mothers.
And that is how HAALU was born.
“HAALU is more than an organisation for me. It is a reflection of my own journey. It was born from the tears I shed, the questions I had, the support I received and the lessons I learned. It represents my belief that every mother deserves to be heard, respected and supported in her breastfeeding journey.”
— Veena Anand, Founder & Licensed Maternal Healthcare ExpertMy dream is for no mother to feel as alone as I once did.
For no mother to feel guilty because she was not given the right guidance.
For families to understand that breastfeeding is not only a mother's responsibility — it is a journey that becomes easier when the people around her stand beside her.
And for every mother to know: You don't have to figure it all out alone. HAALU is here to walk beside you — with knowledge, compassion and support.
From one mother's experience was born a mission to support many more. This is my story. This is the story of HAALU.
